He couldn't believe this was happening. The timing could not have been worse. He knew she would understand why he was not there, but it still upset him. The President had come to Boise for a conference, and now the Presidential party had been snowed in. At this point they had no idea when they would be able to leave. He was not happy about it at all. He needed to be back in D.C., and there was no way he was going to get there tonight, or maybe even tomorrow. He opened the door to the hotel room that would be his home for the foreseeable future, and went in.

It was late on the East Coast. He wondered if he should wait until the morning to call her. He really needed to know if she was all right, so he took the chance of waking her up.

"Hello." He heard CJ say softly.

"Hi, sweetheart."

"How did it go?"

"You're on the way back to DC?"

"No, there's a blizzard here. We're stuck here for a while."

"How long is a while?"

"I don't know, maybe tomorrow afternoon."

"You okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"You don't sound well."

"I'm fine." CJ said.

"Okay, I guess I should get off here and let you sleep."

"It's fine, I wasn't really sleeping."

"Are you certain you're okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

"I'll talk to you later then."

"Oh, I'm sure you will." CJ laughed.

"Stop laughing."

"I can't help it. You're very funny when you get this way."

"So you've told me."

There had been a few smiles earlier when he had snapped at Sam. There had been a lot of talk over the last two years, about how his marriage to CJ had mellowed him. It was true in many ways. He didn't like to admit it was, but deep down he knew she had mellowed him. It hadn't really started to happen until a few months ago, or at least he thought it started then.

Toby walked into the room. They had to be at the fundraiser in five minutes, and CJ was late. It was unusual for her to be late.

"CJ." He called as he came back into their hotel room.

"Yeah?" She said as she came out of the bathroom. "Oh, I'm late aren't I?"

"Yeah, we have five minutes."

"Okay." CJ said. She started to look around the room. "What did I do with my earrings?"

"They're over here." Toby said and as CJ got closer to him, he noticed how pale she was. "You should sit down." He suggested.

"I'm fine."

"You're very pale."

"I know."

"What's wrong?"

"Toby's there's nothing wrong."

"Claudia Jean..."

"There really is nothing wrong. I'm just pregnant."

"What?" Toby said when he realized what she had said.

"I'm pregnant." CJ said calmly.

"And when were you planning to tell me this?"

"I just did." She said .

"CJ!" Toby said as he caught her in his arms. "How long have you known?"

"A week."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't know how."

"Why didn't you know how?

"I don't know, it just never seemed to be the right time."

"And now was the right time?"

"I guess it was."

"We're going to have a baby." Toby said in amazement.

"That's what generally happens when a woman is pregnant." CJ laughed.

"Yes, I know that."

"We should get to the fundraiser." CJ said.

"I'm certain we could get away with not going if we tell Leo what is going on."

"I don't want everyone to know yet."

"I don't want everyone fussing over me."

"That includes you too."

"You're not going to listen to me are you?"

"No." Toby said as they went out the door.

CJ was unable to sleep. She wished Toby were there. Maybe he would be able to help her sleep. He had been very protective of her throughout the pregnancy. It had been very fun to watch him try to hide what he was doing. Of course, midway through the pregnancy he had gotten even worse.

CJ stood outside Toby's office for a few minutes before she went in. She was certain that she was in shock. She was finding it very hard to believe what the doctor had told her today. Even though she had pictorial evidence of it, she still couldn't believe it.

"Hi." She said knocking on the door.

"Hi, how are you?"

"I'm fine." CJ said with a sigh as she sat down on the couch.

"What did the doctor say?"

"The doctor said a great many things." CJ said.

"Well, I'm fine."

"And the baby?"

"Yes the doctor did tell me something about the baby."

"What?" Toby said worriedly.

"To begin with there is nothing wrong, and you should come over here."

"Okay." Toby said as he sat down beside her. "What did the doctor tell you about the baby. And if you've changed your mind and want to know the sex of the baby, I still don't want to know."

"I haven't changed my mind. I didn't find that out. What I did find out is apparently we are not having one baby." CJ said and waited for him to figure out exactly what she was saying.

"We're having twins." CJ said as she laid her head on his shoulder.

"Twins? Two babies?" Toby said in amazement.

"That would be the definition of the word twins."

"I think I'm in shock."

"I know I am." CJ laughed.

Toby picked up the phone again. He had been trying to call CJ for the last two hours. He couldn't get a hold of her. It was starting to worry him. She should be at home. Finally he tried her cell phone.

"Josh, why are you answering CJ's cell phone?" Toby asked when Josh answered the phone.

"Because she went into labor about two hours ago. " Josh said.
