C.J's apartment-- 9 p.m.

"Thanks for bringing me dinner, Danny."

"Your welcome. I thought it had probably been awhile
since you had eaten. I also didn't want to leave you
alone tonight."

"Why?"

"You were shot at less than twenty-four hours ago.
That has to scare the hell out of anyone. I also
remember the reason you left the campaign just before
the convention."

"I didn't know that you knew about Tim."

"My knowledge has always been off the record. Have
you spoken with him about what happened last night?"

"Yeah, we talked after I got back from the hospital.
I guess I know a little bit of what he went through
now."

"If I may ask, what happened to him?"

"He was coming home, and found a burglary in process.
They shot him in the chest, and left him to die. He
was able to use his cell phone to call 911, and was
taken to the hospital in time. Alan, my younger
brother, called me at three o'clock in the morning to
tell me about it. I called Leo, and explained to him
why I had to go back to California. When I got there,
Tim was in a coma. He was comatose for two weeks. Do
you have any brothers?"

"Yeah."

"Then you can imagine what it is like to walk in and
see your brother in that condition." By this point
C.J was beginning to cry.

"C.J., if this is upsetting you too much, then stop."

"I'm fine" she said, but her tears where betrayed the
lie.

"No you're not. If you want we can talk about this
another time. I really hate to see you cry, and I
don't know how much more I can take." Danny said as
he moved to put his arms around her.

The end.
