Summary: CJ and Toby work things out. (Sequel to "I
Wasn't the One Who Said Goodbye")

Lying beside you here in the dark
Feeling your heart beat with mine
Softly you whisper, you're so sincere
How could our love be so blind
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
Now here you are by my side

She liked to lie awake at night after he had gone to
sleep. There were many times when she couldn't believe
that he was back with her. Often she would wake up
thinking it was all a dream. Feeling him beside her
was the only thing the convinced her it was real. They
had been through so much, and yet somehow they had
found their way back to each other. They had been
blind to each other's feelings for so long. It would
have been comical if not for the pain they had felt.
She snuggled closer to him as she started to feel
sleep overtake her. It was a wonderful feeling to wake
up in his arms, but this time it was tinged with the
knowledge that he would be going back to New York
tomorrow. He was still in New York and she was still
in Washington. If the separation had done anything to
their relationship, it had made them closer. The time
they were able to spend together was doubly precious
to them.

Living without you, living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home
But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay

The time had finally passed, and his contract in New
York was up. Soon he would be back in Washington full
time and they would be together. Sometimes she
wondered if their relationship would be able to
withstand the pressures of being together all the
time. It was only when she was alone that CJ felt that
way. When they were together she was certain that
everything would be all right. She had waited for
this, waited for him to be home.

So now I come to you with open arms
Nothing to hide, believe what I say
So here I am with open arms
Hoping you'll see what your love means to me
Open arms

He wouldn't let her pick him up at the airport. So
she waited at her apartment for him, their apartment
it was now *their* apartment. She wondered if he knew
how much he meant to her. If he knew how much it meant
to her that he loved her. There had been a time, in
the not so distant past, that she had believed she
could have him, but not his love. She hoped that she
would always be able to show him how much both he and
his love meant to her. She looked up as she heard his
key in the door. She quietly watched him sit his
luggage down. Her eyes never left his as she walked
over to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Welcome home." CJ whispered in Toby's ear just
before kissing him.

The end.
