"What the HELL do you mean? Have you lost your FUCKING mind?" Donna screamed
into the telephone before slamming it down.

The senior staff stopped in their tracks when they heard Donna yells those words
into the phone.

"I hope that wasn't someone important." Toby groused before heading to his

"I'd hate to get on her bad side." Sam commented and headed for his own
office, leaving Josh to contemplate what to do.

Josh decided that he needed to talk to her and find out what was going on
because that display wasn't Donna by any means. There had to be something major
going on with her.

"Donna, my office." Josh said.

"What did you need?" Donna asked.

"Why don't you tell me what that little display on the phone was." Josh said.

"It's nothing." Donna brushed him off.

"I beg to differ when the entire bullpen heard you scream the 'F' word in the
telephone, along with the senior staff." Josh said.

"My brother is getting married to Mandy Hampton." Donna hung her head.

Josh let the words permeate his brain before speaking again.

"Oh my God. She's gonna be your sister-in-law." Josh burst out laughing.

"It's not that funny." Donna gave him a dirty look.

"Yes, it is. This I have to share." Josh bounced out of his office and down
to the Communications Offices, followed by Donna.

"Guys, get this. Donna's brother is getting married to Mandy." Josh eagerly

"Mandy Hampton?" Toby asked with a look of shock on his face.

"Yeah, isn't it funny?" Josh laughed.

"No, it really isn't." Sam said and gave Donna a look of sympathy.

No one noticed Donna slip out of the office and into the restroom where she sat
down and cried for many, many reasons.

After a few minutes, she heard the door open.

"Donna?" Ginger asked.

"What?" Donna asked as she wiped the tears from her face.

"The guys are kinda worried about you and sent me in to make sure that you're
ok." Ginger sat down on the bench beside her.

"I'm fine." Donna said.

"I heard about your brother and Mandy." Ginger said.

"I kinda figured everyone's heard about it by now. Josh was pretty loud about
it." Donna said.

"Why are you so upset? I know you and Mandy didn't get along that well, but
you didn't hate her, did you." Ginger asked.

"Mandy hated me. She always rubbed it in that I wasn't good enough or smart
enough to be here. Then after the shooting, she cornered me on the stairs by
the mess. She told me that she'd wished I'd gotten shot instead of Josh. Then
she pushed me down the steps." Donna explained.

"Oh god. Did you tell anyone?" Ginger asked after getting over the initial
shock of what Donna had just told her.

"No, she was already on her way out." Donna said.

"You have to tell someone. What she did was commit assault." Ginger told

"No, I don't and neither are you. I want it to go away. That's a time in my
life that I don't want anyone else to know about." Donna said.

"What about your brother?" Ginger asked.

"I'm not gonna go to the wedding or even recognize the marriage." Donna

"What does your family think?" Ginger asked, gently.

"My family adores her." Donna said with a look of despair on her face.

"Ouch. Do they know your connection to Mandy?" Ginger put her arm around
Donna's shoulders as a gesture of support.

"Tell me about it. Yeah, they know. They also know about all the lies she's
told them about what goes on around here." Donna said.

"Have you talked to your mother? What are you gonna do about Josh?" Ginger

"My mother only calls to yell and bother me when Mandy says something about
this cesspool that I work in on a daily basis and about the people I work with.
I'm not gonna do anything about Josh. He'll let it drop since it's bothering me
so much." Donna said.

Months later..............................................

"Donna, isn't this weekend the wedding?" Josh asked with a smirky smile.

"Yeah." Donna brushed him off and got back to highlighting files.

"Are you going?" Josh asked, flipping through a file.

"No." Donna said.

"Why not?" Josh asked.

"Let's see...I wasn't invited to the wedding to start with and I wouldn't go
if they paid me a million dollars." Donna said.

"Okay, but you're gonna have to deal with her eventually." Josh commented.

"No, I won't." Donna said with conviction.

"What happened to make you guys enemies?" Josh asked.

"A lot happened, Josh. There's a whole lot you don't know about." Donna said
carefully, not particularly wanting to get into this discussion with him.

"Tell me." Josh demanded.

"I don't want to talk about it here at work. Why don't you come over to my
place and we'll talk about it over dinner." Donna proposed.

"That's fine with me. Say about 7ish?" Josh asked.

"Yeah, I'll see you at 7 then." Donna turned and walked back to her desk.

Josh sat in his office and thought about things. He was finally glad that Donna
was going to tell him what was going on with her. Donna hadn't been herself for
months and everything her friends and co-workers had tried, hadn't worked
because she was still overly quiet and withdrawn.
