Chapter 16

Mikey shook his head and laughed. "Of course there are female versions of Yoda! Where do you think Yoda came from!"

Zoey ate some more of the huge sundae they were sharing. "How should I know! I'm not a freak fan like you are!"

"Well, if you must know Yaddle, is a female from the same species, and I'm guessing there was some getting on after the jedi council meetings." He grinned.

"If you say so. I only saw Episode 1 one time and didn't pay that much attention."

"That is sacrilege! In fact, before I leave, come over to Sam's and you'll watch it. He has the DVD version and I'll freeze frame on her so you can see."

She smiled sadly, "I still can't believe you are leaving already." They were the only customers at a 24 hour diner that her security detail approved. They sat in a booth and had been talking and sharing food for almost 4 hours. It had been weird at first when he told her about leaving for Europe with his mom, but soon they were talking like they had been doing all week.

"I know you'll miss me," he winked at her, "but you'll live. I'll be the one bored out of my mind in Europe."

"Sure you will... Most likely your mom is going to have to be beaten the girls away with a stick!"

"Are you kidding me? You have MET my mother, haven't you? She'll want to know everything about them!"

"True," she sighed.

"Jealous?" He grinned.

She squirmed, "maybe a little. But that doesn't mean anything. It's just because, you know, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and that stuff."

"I'll bet."

"Whatever." Zoey said quickly to try and change the subject. "You never told me what you and Charlie spoke about when you went out earlier."

"Ok, I went over to him – on Leo's insistence – and invited him for a beer. Obviously Leo had called your father beforehand because as soon as I suggested, more like mumbled, the outing, and your father pretty much pushed Charlie into it." Mikey began telling the story.

"Yeah, I can picture that." She nodded.

"So, we went to a bar, sat in the stools and had two beers without saying a word. Then I gathered the strength to apologize for the brat I was. He said he figured I'd gotten a bad break... I'm thinking Josh must have been filling his head with nonsense on my behalf. Anyways, I assured him that it was never my intention to steal you away and that I just kept "going after you" because it seemed to annoy my brother. Plus I liked you a lot. He said he knew and that he had no reason to doubt you, right?" He looked at her intently.

"Of course. You and me? Ha! Never," she laughed nervously.

He smirked, "That's what I thought. After that we talked about stuff and traded Sam and Josh stories. Then I asked him if he would mind me taking you out to talk."

"What if he would have said that he minded?"

He raised his eyebrows, "He didn't have anything to lose, and he knew I wouldn't have let that stop me."

She bit her lip. "And now you are off to become a writer... I think you would be a pretty cool one. Would you ever write about me?" She asked coyly.

He didn't reply immediately. He softly brushed her cheek with his fingers. "What do you think?" He said and leaned over and gave her a small kiss. In all the time they had spent together, he had never even tried that, and now he knew why. If he had, he wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation of doing it again.

After they broke the kiss, they both sat there looking at the ice cream, neither wanting to look at each other. They stayed that way for a few moments until Zoey burst out, "Yaddle! I knew I heard that before."

Mikey looked at her, wondering if maybe she was high. "Ok..."

"See, my mom told me she heard someone call her that. She was discussing it with CJ because she swears the Secret Service Agents called her lumi something."

Mikey's eyes shone brightly! "He didn't! I can't believe my suggestions were taken!"

"What suggestions?" She eyed him warily.

"I can't tell you... yet. But I might be persuaded if you were to tell where is a good place to see the sunrise." He grinned at her.

"That I can certainly do."

Wednesday was developing into a weird day. CJ, Donna, and Ainsley were suffering a slight hangover. It was rumored that so was the First Lady and that Zoey had stayed out all night. CJ had been fielding questions about this all morning, plus something about a family dinner with the Leo and Sandy.

Meanwhile Donna received a beautiful flower arrangement, but she didn't even want to open the card. Donna stared at the flowers. It was a beautiful arrangement. Of course she knew Josh didn't pick it. Olivia or Sandy probably did it for him. She wanted to know what the note said, she really did. She also didn't want to be the first one to give in.

"For crying out loud, would you just open the damn card already!" Donna turned around to find the First Lady standing behind her. Those rumors of the hangover were clearly true, since the First Lady was holding her forehead. She also winced in pain.

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Donna was a bit taken aback.

"Forgive me, Donna. My head is about to explode and I really want to know what Josh wrote and what will you do about it."

"I don't know if I want to open it. What if it isn't what I expect? What if he lets me down?" She glanced sadly at the flowers.

"Josh loves you and you love him. He sent you flowers because of this, not to let you down. If it does, maybe it is because you want him to." Abbey sat down and smiled softly ad Donna.

"What do you mean?"

"Open the card. You'll feel better... and if you don't mind, read it out loud." She grinned at her.

Donna opened it and held her breath. She knew the First Lady was right. There was no reason to be worried.

~Dear Donna,

I love you. There's no doubt about that or anything else. Give me a chance to show you.

Josh ~

"You were right. I'm being a big baby. I don't even know why."

"I do, dear." The first Lady put her hand on top of hers. "Sweetie, you've mentioned a few times that you want to marry Josh, but that you want to make sure he's ready."

"Isn't that the smart thing to do? Don't you agree?"

"Well... yes and no."

Donna wrinkled her forehead. She looked like a lost lamb.

"Yes, you must be ready to a degree when you are talking marriage, but you are never fully ready. Not even after the fact. I think that the bigger issue here isn't whether Josh is ready."

"It isn't?"

"No. It's that you aren't ready and you are using Josh as an excuse." Donna gasped, but the First Lady continued, "I'm not saying that you don't want to marry him, because you do. The thing is that you are scared and instead of talking to Josh about it, you are laying it all on him. You know he isn't ready, and neither are you. In a way you are betraying the sisterhood."

"How am I doing that?" Donna exclaimed.

"Well..." Abbey replied matter-of-factly. "You are waiting for the man to make the decision. It's about when Josh wants to get married, not you. This isn't the old days when silly girls waited until their beaus were ready to settle down. Tell him how you feel and discuss the topic. You say you want to be ready for marriage, this is how you get ready."

"I thought you said that one was never really ready." Donna pointed out.

"Donna, I have a horrible headache." The First Lady snapped at her. "I'm sorry, just talk to Josh. It will do you good. Trust me." She squeezed Donna's hand, smiled at her, and left.

Donna read the card again. She thought about everything the first lady said. It was true. She was one scared little kitten when it came to matters of the heart. There was a reason why it had taken an elaborate bet to get them together. She sighed and took another look at the card. She'd always been able to talk to Josh about anything and she decided she wasn't about to stop now. She picked up the phone and dialed Josh's extension. It rang and rang for a while.

"Josh Lyman's office." She heard Olivia answer.

"Hey Olivia, how's it going this morning?"

"The usual, Donna. You are such a sweetheart for asking. How are you doing? Did you like the flowers?"

"Aha! I knew he couldn't have done it by himself," Donna laughed.

"Actually he did it all by himself last night. I offered my help, but he declined it. He said he had to do it for you and it had to be him and that he wouldn't go home until he'd done it. I tried to explain that he also has a phone at his home, but he was too involved in it."

Donna couldn't help but smile. She loved him so much and he really could be so cute. "Can you put him on, so I can thank him properly."

"He is in his office with Mr. Bloom. Do you want me to interrupt?"

"No, that's ok. I'll call him later." Donna hung up the phone and stared at the computer for a while. "Why not," she thought and began composing an email to jlyman.

Josh was sick of Congress, but that didn't compare at all with how he felt regarding corporate America. Those made him contemplate murder. Not only did they have the gall to ask for stuff that they would never give them, they were extremely boring at it. He didn't even remember at what point he stopped listening to Bloom. Most of his strength was concentrated on trying to stay awake. He was doing just that when the computer announced that he had mail. Without ignoring Bloom too much, he clicked on the email icon. He was surprised to see that it was from Donna. He opened it, figuring he could skim it while pretending to listen to the blooming bore.

~~My darling Joshua, tech guys, and maybe Leo:

I know we are not supposed to use this accounts for this purpose, but right now I don't care.

The flowers were beautiful, Josh. There are two things that you should never doubt either, that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I don't want to marry you or move in with you. At least not yet, and before you freak out or drop everything, it's not you, it's me.

I've realized that I'm scared. I'm also not ready. I've put the pressure on you because, really, you would try to find a way to change my mind, and I can't deny it, it's fun watching you squirm, but seriously, we can't get married yet, apart from the whole not being ready factor, we are in the middle of a re-election campaign. Unless we elope to Vegas, while on the campaign trail, it's just not feasible... and don't get any ideas, when we get married, we'll do it right, with our friends and family, or else our mothers and Sandy, among others, will kill us.

Look at me rambling like an idiot when I'm supposed to be working – Hi, Leo – The bottom line is simple. We love each other, and like you said, we aren't a tv couple that needs to have tension to keep people interested. We are the only two who should be interested. I love you.

PS – I hope this made sense. ~

Josh smiled at the screen. That was the Donna he knew and loved. An idea jumped into his head and he wanted to get right on it, but he was suddenly brought back into the here and now.

"Josh?" Mr. Bloom called his attention. "What do you think?"

"Huh?" Josh was lost for a moment, "Oh yeah, it sounds decent enough, but it's never gonna happen." Josh told him rather crudely. Leo only said he had to humor the guy, he never mentioned anything about tact. Plus now he could let him go annoy Congress. "I'd love to help. Really. But Congress, as it is now, will never let it pass." Josh gave him a sympathetic smile. He wondered if Donna's acting skills had rubbed off on him. He talked a bit more with Bloom, and quickly dispatched him, so he would be able to put his new plan in motion, but first, he would reply to Donna.

Donna could have sworn she heard someone say Gandalf and Yoda were in a meeting. That could be an amusing premise for a movie. Maybe she should give George Lucas another call or try to contact Peter Jackson. Of course she knew that wasn't why they had been mentioned, she would just have to find out why. Maybe she would ask the President as soon as the Vice President left the Oval Office.

She turned to her computer and noticed that she had email from Josh. She bit her lip and smiled as she opened it.

~ As You Wish ~

She sighed. He could be so romantic when he wanted to, and she could be just as cute. She grinned as she typed.

Josh leaned back after he read Donna's reply.

~I know ~

He loved it.

~ You've got to love a girl who knows how to bring in the Star Wars. It's a pity Obi-Wan won't get a love interest so we could steal his lines. ~

Donna laughed.

~Sadly you are so right. I read spoilers for Attack of the Clones and Obi will be on his own most of the time chasing some Jango guy... I guess sort of like Luke was alone in ESB. ~

Josh gasped at the horrible comparison and replied quickly.

~ That is a travesty! How can they compare Luke to Obi! Obi is not constantly whining about power converters like Luke is. I think it's ridiculous that the little kid will be the one to get the queen instead of Obi. ~

Donna sighed and answered back.

~ I know. They should have at least done a love triangle thing, kind of like an Othello thing. That way you justify him being all evil later on, but, oh well, I don't write it. ~

~ You should. Of course you'd probably have a naked Obi-Wan, so maybe that is the wrong idea...

Hmmm, maybe we should change topics, how about we discuss Aragorn and Arwern? ~

Josh had completely forgotten about his work or plans.

~ We could, but I rather talk of Legolas. He is so pretty....

I'm sorry Josh, but the President's calling me. I'll talk to you later.~

That brought Josh back to the present once again, and he decided he needed help to carry out his plan.

"She's leaving!" The President was talking to Leo when Donna entered the office. She was taken aback and didn't know whether she should continue.

"You wanted to see me, sir?"

"Yes, Donna, come in. There is a matter of the utmost urgency so could you please get Sandy on the phone as soon as humanly possible."

"Is everything alright, sir?" She became nervous.

"It is. He is just being a nosy parker, but please, humor him." Leo told her quickly and she went back to her desk.

"It's not as big a deal as you are making it seem. We are fine. She needs to do this. She has to spend this time with Michael, and it wouldn't hurt for me to fix things up with Sam and Mallory. Besides, we are in the middle of a campaign; it's not as if we have the time to date and such."

The President crossed his arms and stared at Leo, "So you've made up your mind?"

"There's nothing I can do to change your mind?"

"Win re-election and then we'll talk," Leo smirked at him.

"Sir, I have Sandy in line 1," Donna buzzed in.

"Thanks, Donna." The President glared at Leo before taking the call.

It was almost lunch time when Zoey approached Donna. "Hey!"

"Zoey! How are you? What are you doing here? Do you need anything in particular?"

"I'm fine, Donna, don't worry, I was just looking for the steward to give them tonight's movies." Zoey grinned.

"Movies? As in more than one?" Donna shook her head. "Your dad really likes to live on the edge... So, what are the choices?"

"Can't tell you. They are supposed to be a surprise."

"Oh well, want to help me pick a list of movies for next movie night? We can do it over lunch."

"Sure, why not. Hey, where's Charlie?" Zoey looked around.

"He went over to Josh's office a few minutes ago. Maybe we could go over there and see if they want lunch with us."

"Sorry, girls, they left already. I don't know where they were going, but Josh called Mikey earlier and as soon as we got here, they grabbed Mikey and Sam, and left, rather quickly if I might add." Sandy said as she walked in and greeted both of them.

"Hey, Sandy!" Donna smiled as she saw her. "As long as you are here, want to join her for lunch?"

"Thanks. I would love to, Donna, but I'm here to have lunch with the President and Leo."

On cue, Leo opened the door to the Oval Office. "Ahh, you are here, Sandy, come on in." He waved her inside. "Hey, kiddo." He addressed Zoey, "Do you want to talk to your father?"

Zoey shook her head, "Not now. Maybe later. I'm going to have lunch with Donna now."

"Have fun," Leo told them as he closed the door.

Donna waited a few moments before asking what she was dying to ask. "So? Is it true? Did you and Mikey watch the sunrise on the Rose Garden?" She grinned evilly.

"Oh my God! How do you know that?" Zoey freaked out.

"Honey, I know everything and now you get to tell me all about it."

Josh, Mikey, Charlie, and Sam were having a very quick lunch that consisted of hot dogs, hamburgers, or sandwiches as they walked by a few stores. Josh had asked them to join him because he wanted to get the perfect present for Donna.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Sam asked him. "After all, your latest attempts at romancing her have failed miserably."

"Yeah, wonder how that happens when I have such great encouragement from friends." Josh rolled his eyes.

"Look Josh, it's not that... I just want you to be sure; you are on thin ice with her already. I don't want you to ruin the best relationship of your life." Sam replied.

Mikey glanced at Charlie, who shook his head. These men were pathetic. "Josh, has something new happened?"

"Actually, yes. Donna and I had a nice conversation over a few emails, and she was very honest with what she wanted, so I plan to do just that. I asked you guys to come, to help me pick out the perfect gift, and to give me advice on the situation."

"We are listening, man," Charlie said.

Chapter 17

"Ahh!" The President exclaimed with glee as he entered the cinema. "Another edition of movie night is about to start." He looked around and his eyes settled on Donna, "Where's the rest of my guests?"

Donna smiled at CJ, Zoey, and Olivia, who were the only people there. "I guess they will be on their way soon. You know not everyone adores movie night and you did had them come earlier than normal."

"Really, sir, maybe you should start handing out incentives... You know, a free day for every movie?" CJ suggested.

The President snorted, "Yeah, CJ, why don't you sit down and wait for that." He saw that Leo, Sandy, Mikey, and Charlie arrived together. "Ahh, my guests!" He began greeting all of them.

CJ noticed that Zoey kept to herself and sat alone. "Is everything alright with her?" She whispered to Donna.

"She is having a major case of the blushing, and pretty much not knowing how to react."

"How so?" CJ and Donna slowly moved away from everyone, so they could talk. "What happened last night? Is it true?"

"She told me that they did stay up all night talking and yes, they did watch the sun come up over the Rose Garden."

"That would be very romantic, but I guess the security detail didn't help!" CJ grinned.

"Well," Donna glanced towards Zoey and then whispered, "She told me he kissed her goodbye."

CJ laughed a bit, "He is a little Sam, isn't he. Poor child must be so confused. It's a good thing he is leaving, but..."

"But what?"

"He will come back." She winked at Donna.

"True." Donna replied and they joined the others again. By this time, most of the guests had arrived and it seemed that they were just waiting for Toby, Josh, and Sam. Obviously the President had them watched because they arrived just as the lights were coming down for the previews.

"I've decided to try a new thing for movie night. I'll give you 3 previews of movies chosen by Donna and Zoey," he grinned at them, "and approved by me, of course. You'll have the next two weeks to vote for your pick by email and then we'll watch the chosen one. Here are the nominees." The President sat down and previews began for Moulin Rouge!, The Phantom Menace, and Black Hawk Down.

When they were over, CJ glanced at Donna and rolled her eyes, "I can tell which ones you picked."

"Who chose the war one?" Josh wondered.

"We both did," Zoey spoke up. "It has Ewan and Legolas."

"Not again with Legolas." Charlie muttered. He was sitting on the other side of Zoey, who was sitting next to her mother. Mikey had the good grace to sit with his mother and Leo. Toby sat behind CJ and Josh sat to Donna's right.

"Of course if any of you want to know which one I rather watch, it would be The Phantom Menace. You know, to get ready for the next one." The President told them.

"Speaking of which," Mallory spoke up, "I could swear, I heard the secret service guys talking about Obi-Wan. What's going on?"

"Yeah, I heard them talking about Yoda and Gandalf, which was kind of odd." Donna spoke up.

"Ahhh," The President stood up and smiled at Mikey. "I guess I must fess up. You have been given new Secret Service names and since we wanted to show how hip and cool we were..."

"Oh! Of course, Luminara!" Sam slapped his forehead, "You are using Star Wars characters." He pouted for a second, "I thought you might use Lord of the Rings names."

"I thought about it, but I couldn't decide on the names, and I really wanted to be Yoda."

"Ohhh, and mom is Yaddle. Now I get it!" Zoey jumped in and winked at Mikey.

"Very cool, sir. No wonder you had Donna call George Lucas," Josh told him.

"I'm glad you approved, Josh. Why did you tell him about the call?"

"It's not really her fault, sir. I really wanted to know how she got my wonderful birthday present."

"What are you talking about? I thought Donna got you coffee?" Sam wondered.

"No, well, yes. That was just a really nice gag gift, but she had a very special one waiting for me." Josh grinned.

Sam's eyes opened wide, "You got the golden bikini? Amazing!"

"Noooo! I got him an action figure for the new movie. One that doesn't come out for a while." She shuddered, "and get your mind out of the gutter."

Sam rolled his eyes at her, which earned him simultaneous slaps from Mallory and CJ. "Ow."

"So? Which doll is it?" Sam asked her.

"Please, do you even need to ask which one she would choose?" Josh snarked.

"Hey!" Donna replied, "You loved it, so don't complain."

"Well, I think there's no doubt that their code names are Han and Leia." CJ groaned.

"Oooh, that's sly. No wonder you made that Han/Yoda comparison the other day." Josh told the President.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I still don't know who Luminara is." CJ folded her arms.

"She is this really cool Jedi that goes on a mission with Obi-Wan and their Padawans."

"How do you know that, Sam?" Mikey turned towards his brothers, "That book just came out."

"I read it," he shrugged.

"Mom, you weren't kidding when you told me that summer camp he went to was for sci-fi geeks. Right?"

Everyone snickered, but Sam ignored them.

"So? Who am I? I'm guessing Leo is Obi-Wan because of Mallory's earlier comment."

"Actually, no, he isn't. We thought about it, but it was decided that Toby would be Obi-Wan."

"Thank you, sir." Toby mumbled without looking up.

"Ha! I always call him Toby-Wan." CJ grinned.

"As I was saying," The President called the attention back to him, "We thought about making Leo, Qui-Gon, but he didn't survive the first movie. Therefore, he is Mace because he is on the Council and always with Yoda."

"Hmmm, I thought I would get to be Mace." Charlie complained, "I guess I'm Lando or Panaka."

"Neither. I'm sorry Charlie, I wasn't thinking about it that way. I was going for fun."

"Oh god, who did I get?"

"Chewbacca. At first I wanted to give it to Toby, but the Secret Service feared for my life if I did that."

"Good call," Toby muttered.

"I guess I can live with that."

"Who am I dad?"

"You my darling get to be R2, Ellie is C3PO, and Elizabeth got Jar-Jar."

"Wow, what did Elizabeth do to you?" The First Lady asked.

"When was the last time she visited?"

"Sir, pardon the interruption, but, once again, what about me?"

"Yes. Sorry, Sam, you are Luke."

"Luke? Why? He is always whining when he isn't doing the Jedi stuff." Sam predictably whined.

Mikey glanced towards his mother, then at Josh, and pretty much everyone. They were all holding back the laughter. "Yeah, thanks, Sam, for showing us the resemblance. We would never have seen it." Mikey laughed. "Take it easy. Didn't he end up with that hot redhead, Mara Jade, in the books?" He smiled at Mallory.

"Are you all happy?" The President addressed them in that tone that he knew would mean no complains. "Ok. Our first movie tonight is-"

"First?" Toby interrupted him.

"Yes. Live with it. Anyways, the first movie is Bridget Jones' Diary. I call it my gift to the sisterhood, and Zoey really likes it too." He sat down and the movie began.

When the movie was over, the President stood up and faced his audience, "What did you think?"

"It was fun, but she is really a basket case," Josh commented quickly.

The President shook his head; Josh was even dumber than he gave him credit for. He noticed how Donna and CJ looked ready to slap him. "Why do you say that, Joshua?" The President raised his eyebrows at him.

"Well, she doesn't see that things are going good for her and she keeps doing nutty things because she thinks she has to, which just pushes the men away from her. She is just overreacting."

"Like women are prone to do?" CJ glared at him.

"I knew you would go there. As soon as I uttered those words, I just knew. You really are proving my point since you are doing just that right now!" He was slapped on the back of the head by Donna. "Hey! What was that for?"

"Defending the sisterhood."

"Sir," Josh addressed the President, "Help me out here."

"He does have a point." Everyone mad rushed to look at him. "Oh, it's not what you think. Josh is an idiot, but that's common knowledge." He paused for a moment to enjoy Josh's frown. "What I mean is that women do a lot of 'nutty' things like he says. That's really part of your charm. It is our job as men to love the women around us because of their 'nutty' things. The most important thing is to never try to explain that great and wonderful mystery that a woman is. You have to love them, understand them, listen to them, and be there for them. Remember, a woman isn't special because she can do what a man can. That is just part of who she is. She is all that and more because of all the things that she does and we can't. And I'm not just talking about childbirth. It goes beyond that and you all know it." He finished softly.

"That was beautiful dad."

"It should be. The most beautiful woman in the world told me that the night we met." He smiled at his wife. This was followed by a chorus of awwwws.

"Enough of that. Let's watch the next movie, The Bachelor."

When the movie was over, Josh was flushed with embarrassment. He wasn't surprised when the President addressed him again.

"What did you think, Josh?"

"I think that I'm never going to watch a movie with Renée Zellweger again."

"True. We were having a theme movie night and didn't realize it." The President laughed. "It's your turn, Donna. What did you think?"

"I don't feel so bad about my proposal." She hugged Josh, who was not amused.

"Can we get on with tonight's lesson? I really want to go back to my office, and eventually get home and have my 3 hours of sleep." Toby grumbled.

"One of these days, I'll let you pick the movie, Toby, but you have to be chipper about it." The President grinned. "Ok, so as requested, tonight's lesson is –"

"Mr. President, I don't mean to interrupt, but Donna and I already had gotten to that. Plus my pride can't take it anymore, and I'm afraid of what you might say now."

"Who? Me! Go right ahead, Josh. You have the floor now." The President sat back down.

Josh glanced at Sam, Mikey, and finally Charlie before standing up. "As you all know, since we can't keep any secrets here, the question of marriage has been surrounding Donna and me quite a lot lately." He looked straight at her, and noticed that she was close to freaking out. "Don't worry. I'm not planning on proposing. Not tonight anyways." Donna smiled at him. She wondered what he had up his sleeve.

"Donna and I discussed this and we both came to the conclusion that we want to get married eventually." He took a deep breath to gather his friends' faces. They were all listening intensely. "We have too much going on right now to even think about getting married, after all, we have to win re-election."

Leo and Sandy held hands tighter. They understood Josh perfectly.

"You know something? I lied. I plan on making a proposal, just not the one you are expecting." He took out a small box from his pocket. "When we win re-election, that night if you want it, we'll start planning everything. By the way, the President already offered to pay for a vacation for us. Until then, the M word is forbidden. Of course, I don't expect you to take this at face value, although my word should be enough."

Sam grunted and raised his eyebrows at Josh.

"Yeah, I'll get on with it." He opened the box and took out a gold necklace with a beautiful heart shaped diamond pendant. "I took that other ring back. When the time comes, we'll go get one together. As it should be." He smiled tenderly at her, really forgetting there other people in the room. "I can't physically give you my heart, but really, in all sense of the matter, you already have it." He put the necklace on her and kissed her. "I love you."

"I love you too, Josh." She had a few tears in her eyes as she kissed him back. She couldn't believe things were perfect again. They would be happily ever after.

Everyone was clapping and they were brought back to the present.

"That's it, people. Show's over!" Josh said as Donna sort of hid her head on his shoulder. She was biting her lip in excitement.

All of a sudden, Olivia burst out, "Oh my God!" She opened her purse and took out a little notebook. "I totally forgot to tell you, Josh. You got a message earlier." She took out a piece of paper. "Your mom called."

"What? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Never mind. What happened? Is she alright?" Josh started to unravel.

"Don't worry, Joshua. She just wanted to let you know that she'll be arriving Friday at 2pm. She said something about stopping over at her friend's house, Grace, I believe."

Josh sighed in relief, "But why is she coming here? She never does spontaneous things like that. And things can't be good if she's stopping over at Grace's house. That's her scheming partner."

"Hmmm," Sandy sat up straighter, "Maybe it could be because I called her and told her you were having Donna problems."

"You did what?"

"Actually Josh, so did I." Donna told him.

"Why? Why would you do that?"

"I always call your mom when you and I have problems." She shrugged.

"I can't deal with her now." Josh whined.

"Hey! You sound like Sam." Mikey joked.

"Not funny, but you know, Josh, I survived having my mom here. It won't be so bad. And you can consider it Karma." Sam smiled widely.

"I'm so dead." He ran his fingers through his hair.

"Good. Now can we leave?" Toby was already standing up.

"Hold on a second, man. I want to make sure all my staff is happy." The President replied.

"Great. We are never going home." Toby sat back down again and folded his arms.

"First off, Sandy, you sure I can't convince you to stay?"

"Nope." She held Leo's hand and kissed it lightly. "Mikey and I will travel through Europe first, and then we'll come back. Don't worry; we'll be back in time to vote for you."

Everyone laughed, but the President wasn't impressed. "Like I need those two votes." He grinned. "Well, I already talked to Zoey, so I guess that takes me to Sam."

Sam cringed in fear of whatever the President could say.

"I'm not going to say much. I just want you to get your love life straightened out. I really wouldn't want to have to do something about it." He winked at Josh.

Sam slightly glanced at Mallory. "I'm working on it, sir."

"Good boy." The President looked around the crowd, "Let's see, who else." His eyes settled on Toby. His smile was positively evil.

"The reason you are crabby much of the time is that you don't have someone in your life. We should find you one." The President immediately turned to CJ. "Really, I would just be killing two birds with one stone. What do you two think?"

CJ and Toby glanced at each other and then simultaneously to Donna and Josh.

They both gulped. The night was going to be long. Josh shielded Donna from CJ who was screaming some incoherent babble, but he kept a close eye on Toby, wondering what he would.

Slowly the President walked away from them and motioned for the rest to leave. Ahh, his staff was happy, or at least as happy as they would be, which made Jed Bartlet one happy President. It was time to get ready and win re-election for them.

The End.
