A Long Slow Process
Turning towards the door Sam looked out into the hallway and yelled for Bonnie. When his
assistant appeared, Sam pulled her into the office and shut the door. "Bonnie, when
did Donna bring this note in?"
"Well, she was here around 1:30. She asked if you were here, and when I told her you
had the thing she asked if she could leave a note."
"Ok, thanks." Bonnie left Sam in his office, and returned to her work. Sam sat
quietly for almost an hour, thinking about what Donna had scribbled on the note. If she
had changed her mind, why? Wasn't she planning on offering any sort of explanation? Sam
wondered if his heart was ready to go through this emotional strain again. He has asked
her to marry him, and she turned him down. It didn't inspire much confidence that he could
trust her with his heart again. Still, Sam loved her like he'd never loved another woman,
and he was going to find out why she had said no in the first place.
Sam stood up from his chair, and walked towards the door. Opening it he again called out
into the bullpen. "Bonnie, where's Donna?"
