Part 1

"What do you think? Is this a 'meeting the parents' kind of dress?" Cassie nervously turned around so Margaret could get a full view of the dress.

"Yes, very conservative. Unlike what you had on when you got here."

"Thanks for letting me borrow it. Apparently all my clothes are 'too revealing'."

"I didn't say that." Margaret gave her a confused look.

"No, but my mom did."

"Borrow whatever you want. It's not like I'm going to be fitting into it anytime soon.... I can't believe I'm lending you clothes, you own more clothes than anyone I've ever met in my life."

"None of them were right."

"You worry way too much."

"No I don't." Just then Leo got home from work. "Leo, do I worry too much?"

"Good god yes." He said emphatically before crossing the room to kiss Margaret.

"How was your day?"

"Dull. How was you're...."

Cassie cut her off. "I do not worry too much."

"Yes you do." Leo gave her an annoyed look. "And what are you doing here? I thought you were going to California."

"We're not leaving for another hour. I'm here borrowing clothes."

"She's having a nervous breakdown because she and Sam are having dinner with his mother tonight."

"I am not having a nervous breakdown." Cassie replied defensively.

"Whatever."

Cassie looked down at her watch. "I have to go, thank you for the dress."

"You're welcome, just relax and everything will be fine."

Leo patted her shoulder. "She's right, now get going."

"Ok, goodbye." She hurried out the door.

"How are you feeling?" Leo moved to stand behind Margaret.

"I'd feel better if you'd stop asking me that." She replied, more sharply than she intended.

"Sorry."

She turned around and leaned against him. "I didn't mean to bite your head off. My back hurts and I'm tired of lugging all this weight around."

"Do you want me to do something?" He wrapped his arms around her as best he could.

"Yes, I'd like you to get these babies to stop kicking me for ten minutes."

He slid his hands down to her stomach and felt the steady kicking. "Come on guys, give your mom a break." The movement didn't stop. "Ok, I'm fresh out of ideas. Come sit down and I'll rub your back, maybe that will help."

"Ok." She followed him to the couch.

"You're making a big deal out of nothing." Sam reached across the armrest of the plane and took Cassie's hand in his.

"You really think so?" She squeezed his hand.

"Yes."

The vice president interrupted their conversation. "Has anyone given you a copy of my speech?" He held out two stacks of paper.

"No sir." Cassie took the speech from him. "What would you like us to do with this?"

"I think the speech is great, but I was commanded to let you two look over it and make any revisions you think are necessary." He said with an annoyed look on his face. "I'll leave you to it." He dropped the speech in Sam's lap and walked off.

"Nice guy." Sam muttered sarcastically under his breath.

"Yeah, let's just get to work." Cassie began to read.

Scenes from part 2.........

She opened her eyes to the bright light of the emergency room. "Where am I?" She sat up unsteadily, the white room spinning around her. "What happened?"
