Sooner or Later
Jenny looked down at her friend, "Abbey, you can't keep running in the other direction every time you see Jed Bartlet coming your way. You're going to have to talk to him sooner or later."
Abbey didn't bother to look up, "I'd rather it be later, Jenny."
"Why?" Jenny asked, sitting down on the bed, next to her friend.
"Because I like him..."
Jenny made a face, "Well... that certainty makes sense."
Abbey lifted her head from the pillow, "I could love him Jenny..."
"Abbey, forgive me if I'm wrong," Jenny started. "But, isn't that the point?"
Abbey dropped her head back into the pillow, "How do I know he feels the same way?"
"Hello!" Jenny exclaimed, tapping on her friend's head. "You're all he talks about! I can even vouch for that. Every time he sees me he asks about you. And all he can talk to Leo about it you. If that doesn't tell you he's crazy about you, I don't know what will."
"I know, I know." Abbey muttered into her pillow.
Jenny looked at her for a moment, "You're scared... That's it! You are scared of Jed Bartlet."
Abbey raised her head up off the pillow immediately, "I am not."
"Yes, you are!" Jenny exclaimed. "You're scared because you know that you could fall head over heels in love with him and you're scared of loosing control like that!"
"I'm not scared of anything!" Abbey proclaimed indigently.
"Whatever," Jenny shook her head. She was silent for a moment, "You know something, though?"
"He's got your biology book." Jenny answered. "You're going to have to see him to get it back."
"Unless-" Abbey started.
"No way," Jenny replied, knowing full well what her friend was going to say. "Not going to happen."
"Fine," Abbey muttered, letting her head fall back on the pillow with a soft thud.
