Hey all. So I finally decided to write the next part of this. Just a note that Casablanca is property of…whoever it’s property of, the point is, it’s not mine. I know this seems like such an obvious choice for an old movie to watch, but given that my knowledge of old movies is limited, this is what you get. I was actually thinking something along the lines of Tracy and Hepburn after reading the EW blurb, but I’ve never actually seen any of their movies, so…Okay, I’ve gotten carried away. Get on with the reading. Dream For Tomorrow 3/? By SarahK An hour later, Josh and Donna sat on the sofa in Josh’s living room, behind the coffee table covered with take-out boxes. Donna leaned against the sofa cushions with her legs tucked under her, watching the TV screen as Josh flipped channels. "Do you realize how annoying that is?" she asked. "Yes," replied Josh, continuing to flip. "Josh! Pick a channel and stay there!" "This is bothering you, isn’t it?" Josh said with a grin. "What ever gave you that idea?" Josh just smiled and changed the channel again. "Joshua!" yelled Donna, lunging for the remote control. Josh playfully raised the remote above his head, just out of Donna’s reach. She continued to grab at it, and finally succeeded in wrestling it away from him. Unfortunately, Josh had a good hold on her, and kept her pinned to him as he once again grabbed the remote away from her. She lunged at him again, and he caught her around the waist, inadvertently pulling her towards him. They stopped, faces close together, both breathing heavily. Donna stared hesitantly into Josh’s eyes for a moment, then turned away, taking the remote with her as he released his grasp on her waist. She moved back to the other side of the couch, not looking at him. *What just happened?* she thought. There was a tense silence between them as Donna changed the channel one more time. Josh broke the silence. "Oh, Casablanca!" he said. Donna smiled. "I love this movie." "Really?" Josh looked at her. "Yeah, one of my favourites," Donna replied, thankful that the tension had been broken. "Me too. I guess it’s a little obvious for a favourite old movie, but it’s a classic. Bogart was my childhood hero." "Wow. That’s pathetic," replied Donna, chuckling. "Hey." "Well, to each his own, I suppose." They sat in silence for a while, enjoying the movie. "You know, this is like one of those slumber parties we used to have when we were kids," said Donna suddenly. "Really? Do we get to do each other’s hair and talk about boys?" replied Josh. Donna threw a pillow at him. "I’m just saying, that’s what this feels like. You never went to any slumber parties, did you?" "Not really a guy thing." "I suppose not." "Still, I always thought it sounded like fun." Donna smiled. They lapsed back into a comfortable silence. ************************************************************************ The movie ended several hours later. Josh remained in the same spot on the couch, but Donna had fallen asleep, and now leaned so that her head rested lightly against his shoulder. Josh didn’t want to wake her, because in a way, it felt so right. But he knew they would both need a good night’s sleep before work in the morning, so he reached over and lightly tapped her cheek. She stirred, and slowly opened her eyes. "Josh? What time is it?" "After midnight. I thought you might prefer somewhere a little more comfortable to sleep." "Right," said Donna, realizing her position and hastily lifting her head from Josh’s shoulder. "Okay, so I’ll show you to the guest room," said Josh, as Donna retrieved the overnight bag she’d left by the front door. He led her down the hall to the door across from his own bedroom. "Okay, so you know where everything is, and I’m across the hall if you need anything." "Right," said Donna. "Okay, so goodnight then." "Goodnight." Donna turned and entered the bedroom, leaving Josh standing at the door for a moment before heading back to his own room. TBC…
