I have returned, for the moment. I actually got off work early, so I’m
using the writing time. Unfortunately, I have no great inspiration right
now, so this installment may not me that good, but that’s for you to judge.
I’m also getting really incoherent from lack of sleep, so I apologize if
anything sounds weird, I’m not inclined to proofread, and I know so many
people hate that, but most of them are on the other list and I don’t really
care to begin with. So there. Okay, I’ve gotten carried away. Time for
the story. This is a short one.
Dream For Tomorrow 4/?
By SarahK
Sunlight streamed through the blinds in Josh’s guest room, illuminating
Donna’s still sleeping form. Josh stood in the doorway, debating whether or
not to wake her up, or to let her sleep since she looked so peaceful.
Realistically, though, he knew that they both had to be at work in an hour,
so he slowly walked over to the bed and brushed his hand lightly against her
cheek. Donna moved slightly, and groaned.
"Tell me I don’t have to get up."
"I’d love to, but I’d be lying."
"Damn." Donna sat up and stretched her arms over her head. She still
felt
half asleep. "Need coffee. Now."
Josh laughed. "I’ll make some. You know where the shower is. I’ll make
breakfast, too. How do you like your eggs?"
"You’re kidding, right?"
"I can make eggs."
"I’m impressed. Over easy."
"Done."
"Go away."
Josh left the room and headed for the kitchen. Donna pulled out a new suit
for the day and headed down the hall to the bathroom.

About fifteen minutes later, Donna emerged, dressed impeccably as usual in
her black skirt and blazer, hair brushed perfectly into a ponytail, and
looking much more awake than she had been before. Josh just stared at her.
"How do you do that so fast?" he asked, amazed.
"Years of practice," replied Donna, reaching for the coffee mug he
handed
her. She sipped her coffee thoughtfully for a moment. "Josh, I just want
to thank you for letting me stay here last night. It was really great of
you to offer."
"Donna, you know you’re always welcome. And you can stay as long as you
wa- need to." Josh corrected himself before accidentally saying what he was
really thinking. *You can stay as long as you want.*
She looked at him a moment, having caught the slip. "Two more nights.
Then I can get back into my apartment."
"Okay."

Author’s note: I have a feeling this story’s going to end up going on
very
long, so I apologize in advance for not having the time to write frequently
enough to actually finish it. Also, many things I was intending to include
keep changing, and I just want to say that as it stands, the title no longer
has any relevance to the story, though that could still change, and I
suppose I should have waited to title it, but I don’t care and this is the
one I’m sticking with. So there. Okay, I’m not the lunatic you all think I
am. I swear. I’m just gonna stop now. Bye all. |
